  • While circumnavigating the Annapurna massif, we will triumph over one of the world’s highest passes, Thorong La (5,416m/17,769ft), enjoy the dry yet stunning terrain of the Manang valley, and visit Muktinath, a sacred site for Nepalese pilgrims (both Hindus and Buddhists).

Itinerary

We will be met at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu by a representative from Himalayan Glacier, who will transport us to our accommodation. We rest or go to the Himalayan Glacier's office after checking in. We may also take a stroll through Thamel, Kathmandu's tourist district, to do some souvenir shopping. A welcome supper will be served by Himalayan Glacier in the evening. We will dine on great traditional Nepalese cuisine throughout our meal.

After breakfast, we'll go on a guided tour of Kathmandu's most important historical and spiritual sites. The historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famed 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath), and the Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is one of the world's largest stupas, are the the all World Heritage Sites. A pre-trip meeting will take place at midday when we will meet our trek leader and other team members. Himalayan Glacier informs us about our journey and gives us the chance to ask any questions we may have about our future adventure. In Kathmandu, spend the night.

Early in the morning, we begin our long journey to Syangja. Along the way, we get to see Nepal's scenery, which includes verdant hills, twisting rivers, terraced fields, and, of course, the majestic Himalayas. In Syangja for the night.

After crossing a major bridge near Tal, we arrive in the Manang district. The trail travels through barley, rice, and potato farms, and the waterfalls are still there to greet us. Before arriving at Dharapani, we pass through the village of Kodo, which is one of the largest in the Manang valley. Dharapani is where you will spend the night.

On our way to Chame today, we pass through a few high forested ridges and multiple landslides. However, we must remember to gaze up, as we will be rewarded with spectacular vistas of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m). We also come upon a few little hot springs that should allow us to unwind for a time. Chame is where you'll spend the night.

We go down a narrow valley to get our first glimpse of Paungda Danda, a stunning curved rock wall soaring 1500 meters above the river. We also get great views of Annapurna 2 to the south and Pisang Peak to the northeast from here. Following that, we descend to the Manang Valley's level, where we may take in the breathtaking scenery. In Pisang, spend the night.

We trek down a small and steep valley to get our first glimpse of Paungda Danda, a stunning curved rock wall soaring 1500 meters above the river. We can also see Annapurna 2 to the south and Pisang Peak to the northeast from this vantage point. Following that, we descend to the Manang Valley floor, where we may take in the stunning scenery. In Pisang, stay the night.

We keep ourselves occupied today with a short climb to either Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake in order to stay fit for the trails ahead. If we have enough stamina, we can go to Vraga Village and visit the Himalayan Rescue Association, which will provide us with information about Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). In Manang, spend the night.

The trail leaves Manang village, crosses a creek, climbs to Tenki village above Manang, and then continues climbing out of the Marshyangdi Valley, turning northwest up the Jarsang Khola valley. The road ascends steadily as it follows this valley northward, passing through a few fields and a juniper grove. The walk continues near Ghunsa, a small village with flat mud roofs located right below the trailhead. The trail now passes across meadows grazing horses and yaks. The trail crosses an ancient old Mani wall in a nice meadow after crossing a tiny river on a wooden bridge, and then enters another little settlement of Yak Kharka. Avoiding altitude difficulties requires a slow but steady rise.

To go to Thorang Phedi, you must hike uphill. We arrive in Ledar village after walking for a while and crossing a suspension bridge. Before reaching Thorang Phedi, the last settlement before Thorong La, we continue ascending and pass past huge rocks. We get one of the nicest views of Mt. Gudang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak, and Mt. Khatungkan on this excursion. Thorang Phedi is where you'll spend the night.

Our final goal today will be to cross the Thorong La pass, one of the world's highest passes. We'll cross the pass from east to west (Manang to Muktinath), which is the most convenient and safe route. We get up at three a.m. and go for a hike up the mountain. When we reach the summit, we realize that our trek was well worth it. Before traveling to Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La pass, we can take a few shots. After that, travel to Jomsom, a Himalayan hamlet known for its delectable apples. Jomsom is where you'll spend the night.

Today, we take the earliest jet possible to Pokhara, the lake city. We can rest or visit the Lakeside area in the neighborhood of the Fewa Lake after settling into our hotel. We can buy souvenirs or sample some local specialties while we're here. Pokhara is where you'll spend the night.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Pokhara, a lovely lake city, and depart for Kathmandu. We have the rest of the day off after arriving in Kathmandu. In the evening, the Himalayan Glacier will throw a goodbye supper to commemorate the successful completion of our journey.

Today is the last day of our Nepal adventure! We will be escorted to the airport by a Himalayan Glacier employee roughly 3 hours prior to our scheduled flight. We'll have plenty of time on the way home to plan our future excursion in Nepal's beautiful land.
