Introduction To Poon Hill Trek In Nepal
Poon Hill Trip is a four-day trek in the Annapurna foothills to Ghorepani/Poon Hill and Ghandruk.
Enjoy walking through spectacular mountain landscapes, charming Gurung villages, dense rhododendron woods teeming with wildlife, and deep sub-tropical valleys, all nestled beneath the Annapurnas and dominated by the picturesque fluted peak of Machapuchare (Fish Tail Peak).
The sunrise vistas from the top of Poon Hill (3,210m/10,531ft) above Ghorepani hamlet over the enormous Annapurna, Dhaulagiri Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (6,993m) are the highlight of the journey.
Through one of Nepal’s most gorgeous itineraries, immerse yourself in nature, beauty, and unique culture.
A drive from Pokhara to Berithanti/Uleri is the first leg of our journey. Our journey begins at Berithanti. We proceed to Tikhedhunga through the rice terraces of Modi Khola.
We’ll pass snow-capped mountains, lovely villages, and a variety of flora and fauna as we stroll along the stone-paved hiking trails.
The following day, we trek along the banks of the Modi Khola to Birethanti and then climb Uleri to Ghorepani, where we can explore the villages and interact with the locals to learn about their lives and cultures.
You’ll also be rewarded with spectacular views of the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhare, and Hiunchuli, as well as the first glimpse of Dhaulagiri. We travel to Poon Hill the next morning to see the dawn over the snowcapped Himalayas.
From Poon Hill, we have a spectacular view of glaciers and mountain ranges stretching from Hiunchuli to Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhare.
Then we return to Pokhara via Ghandruk, a big Gurung hamlet with a museum, and a trek to the kimchi-syauli bazaar, where our trek ends and we drive back to Pokhara.
This is an introductory trip into the Annapurna region that is both family and time-friendly, making it ideal for people looking for a quick break from their daily routine as well as newbie trekkers looking to acquire experience before embarking on larger excursions.

Our journey begins with a 6-7 hour bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara (approx 200 km), which is included in the package; however, if you want to take a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (20 minutes approx) and also from Pokhara to Kathmandu, we can provide that for an additional flight cost which is not included in the package. The Meals on Ghorepani Ghandruk Hike
Ghorepani Ghandruk hiking takes place at high elevations near the world’s highest peak, which means your body will require adequate glucose, protein, and nutrients to travel on such massive Himalayan treks. | The food on this trek is quite convenient, although not as convenient as it is in towns.
The tour will include four breakfasts, four lunches, and three dinners.
The following are some of the most popular menu items:

The best items from the lodge’s cuisine are fresh, hygienic, flavorful, and nutritional. At high altitudes, we highly encourage liquids such as green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup (essential), as well as fresh vegetable products for health benefits. Although there will be lots of non-vegetarian options, we will not recommend any of them because the meat in such places is unsanitary and unhealthy during the hike.
We strongly advise against consuming dairy and cheesy foods, as well as alcoholic beverages, caffeinated beverages, and hot chocolates, as specialists advise against doing so during such high-altitude climbs.
Note that the company will not provide lunch or dinner in Pokhara.
All personal bills (alcohol drinks, hot and cold drinks) in tea houses/ lodges or cafes are excluded from the package, except for Standard Meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner with seasonal fruits).
Best Time To Trek Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trek
People trek up to the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trek throughout the year, but there are ups and downs in every season. The best time to trek the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trek is during the spring and autumn when the sky is crystal clear from dusk to dawn, the rainy weather stops, and the thick sun-blocking clouds fade.
The most beautiful landscapes are created by the magic of bright azure skies. With those stunning vistas, it gets a bit tough to trek during the winters and monsoons due to heavy snowfall and low temperatures, but that’s what attracts many trekkers. Although trekking in the Annapurna region is feasible throughout the year, each season has its own set of benefits, attractions, and advantages. The temperature in the mountains varies depending on the altitude range – the higher the altitude, the cooler it is. In a nutshell, the climatic conditions for each quarter of the year are outlined here.
March-May – Spring
Spring (March-May) is a popular season for mountaineers and travelers to visit the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit. The weather is pleasant, the rainfall is light, and the trekking conditions are ideal during this season. In the Ghorepani Poon hill, the average daily temperature ranges from 5 to 15 degrees Celsius. The trek’s lower portions are significantly warmer, making it ideal for nature lovers. In the spring, the trekking season begins after March. Even at elevations of above 3,000 meters, the journey path over the Himalayas will be rewarded with varied full blossom rhododendron of red, pink, and white by April. From mid-March until mid-May, the temperature begins to rise. At this time of year, the weather is cool. The sky is crystal clear, and you can see the mountains in all their glory.
June to August -Summer
You are signing up for summer if you come to trek the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit between July and August. The summer months of June, July, and August are the most popular. Summer is the warmest month of the year, making for the best trekking conditions compared to the other months. However, because the monsoon coincides with summer, you must be more cautious in your preparation because the trekking routes may be wet and slick.
During this time of year, it usually rains. The monsoon season usually starts at the end of June and lasts until the second week of August. The temperature normally ranges from 15°C to 25°C during the day and drops to 5°C to 15°C at night. The mornings are normally clear, with clouds forming in the afternoon and then dissipating at night. The rain, on the other hand, may present some issues. Various flora blooms throughout this season, transforming the valleys into a lush green landscape unlike any other.
September to November -Autumn
Autumn (September, October, and November), like Spring, is a popular time for trekkers to visit the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit. Autumn is a great time to go hiking because of the moderate temperatures, light winds, and low precipitation. This is a popular tourist destination due to the pleasant weather and ideal temperature.
The sun is shining brightly, the skies are clear, giving you a spectacular view of the mountains, and the temperature is ideal for an afternoon hike. Because the sky is clear at night, you may enjoy amazing starry skies. By early September, the monsoons will have passed, and the weather will be mild to warm. In high altitudes, daytime temperatures can reach up to 20°C, while nighttime temperatures can drop to around 5°C. Grains are maturing in the enclave as the greens that bloomed during the monsoon fade to golden/amber, providing a stunning contrast against the clear blue skies.
The lowlands are lush and the environment is clean. These seasons also coincide with Nepal’s most important festivals, such as Dashain and Tihar. It’s also a popular season since it’s the clearest month of the year, with a bright, glittering sky. This month’s daytime temperatures are usually the most consistent, ranging from pleasant to cool. The humidity is low, and the nights are quite chilly.
December to February- Winter
Winter hikes in the Annapurna region (December – February) are just as popular as spring and autumn treks. During the winter, the spots along the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trip can be freezing, but that’s what most trekkers want to see. The temperature on the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit trip can be as low as 5 degrees 10 degrees Celsius, luring trekkers to this location in favorable weather. From December to early February, the weather is the coldest; however, until late February, the weather gradually warms. Temperatures will plunge to -5 degrees Celsius at high altitudes. The weather is pleasant and relatively warm during the day, with plenty of sunshine. Despite the cold, the skies are frequently clear and the mountain views are spectacular. It may snow, and the ground will be covered in snow, with snowy tops. At this time, the trails are the least crowded. Although it is not the best season for beginners, experienced hikers will have little difficulty.
The weather in the Himalayas is notoriously unreliable, with temperatures fluctuating dramatically from day to night.

A typical day in Ghorepani Ghandruk Circuit Trek
Every day will bring a new adventure of trekking, taking in the beauty, snapping photos, and discovering the local villages. We are accompanied on our trek by an experienced, courteous, and qualified expert Sherpa who shares information and historical details about the sites we visit.
We’ll be escorted by the porters who will be carrying our bags. We will, however, be bringing our standard day bag pack of essentials. The day begins with a nice cup of tea or coffee in the morning. We set off on the day’s walk from 7 AM to 8 AM, depending on the duration and nature of the day’s trek, after packing our bags and eating a hearty breakfast.
Lunch will be provided at midday on the route to the next destination after three to four hours of trekking, and we will continue after roughly an hour of rest. The trek in the afternoon is usually shorter, lasting two to three hours. We nibble on the additional dietary food once we arrive at our overnight lodge/tea house/tent. We’ll have some free time to go exploring in the area. Dinner is served between 6 and 7 p.m.
We engage in cordial chats and review the events of the day after dinner and before going to bed. The expedition leader/guide will give us an overview of the next day’s activities. Following the briefing, we play onboard games like monopoly and cards, as well as watch climbing documentaries that are available. Most visitors learn the Nepalese language in a light and enjoyable manner from our personnel or read books before retiring to their beds for a well-deserved rest.
Communication on trek
The usage of internet connectivity will be accessible at the lodges on the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit Trek for an additional fee. You can communicate with your family and friends through the lodges, but after we reach high altitudes, communication will be by phone for safety reasons.
We’ll check in with all of our valued clients at least once a day through our leader to make sure they’re fine, safe, and have all they need. During the journey, you’ll always be able to contact Kathmandu’s office for assistance. Also, depending on the network you choose, there will be a signal before the high altitude, but it will be weak. We may give you a different local sim card (most businesses have wifi service accessible for an additional fee) if you request it for good access to connect.
Normally, Wi-Fi is available during the walk-in lodges/lodges for an additional fee.
Electricity and battery recharge, water on trekking
Electricity for camera and mobile battery recharge is offered at an additional fee throughout the Ghorepani Ghandruk circuit lodges. The majority of the lodges are powered by hydroelectricity, while some have solar panels. Water can be purchased in the form of packed mineral water from local lodges and en-route shops, or boiled water can be filled at an additional fee. To make the water drinkable, a water purification tablet will be provided.
You should avoid drinking water from the river, tap, or well up there since it may not be as safe as it appears.
Extra personal expenses on trekking
We make every effort to cover all extra costs not included in the plan. Our clients are responsible for their own meals and lodging in Kathmandu, as various types of hotels/lodges (both luxury and cheap) may be booked easily online or on request. All of our valued clients will need to carry personal spending money with them to cover the costs of meals and lodging in Kathmandu, the visa application procedure, the purchase of travel insurance, beverages, hike snacks, hot and cold drinks, and gratuities to the trekking crew members, souvenirs, and so on. We recommend taking cash (dollars) that can be exchanged into rupees here, as only Nepalese money is accepted on the hike.
